About us

Saint-Georges-de-Clarenceville was founded on December 13, 1989 following the amalgamation of the parish of Saint-Georges-de-Clarenceville and the village of Clarenceville.

Saint-Georges-de-Clarenceville is on the shores of Lake Champlain, stretching along the border of Vermont and is approximately forty-five minutes from Montréal and thirty minutes from Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.

Our agriculture-based economy promotes a peaceful environment, which is enhanced all year-round by the beautiful Lake Champlain, renowned for the quality of its beaches and the practice of various nautical activities, including fishing and sailing.

Our population of nearly 1,200 is both bilingual and multicultural. As we are a tourist destination, our population nearly doubles during the summer months.
Saint-Georges-de-Clarenceville is proud of its history which dates back to the settling of the Lake Champlain Basin in the early 19th century. We share with our American neighbouring towns a history rich in events and traditions.

Come for a visit and see how Saint-Georges-de-Clarenceville could become your choice of lifestyle. Welcome to our home!
